Teaching English In China

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

* Flexibility and openness to change
* Availablity to teach for a full academic year
* Must have a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the program
* All major accepted (preference given to ESL and Education majors)
* No language requirements
   (preference given to students who have studied or are studying Chinese)
* General medical examination prior to departure 

PARTICIPANTS WILL:

* Gain valuable experience teaching English to non-native speakers
* Earn a stipend to cover all living and travel expenses
* Be able to learn Chinese Mandarin and experience Chinese culture

Recommended Medical Insurance

Supplemental insurance covering serious illness that might require treatment outside of China should be arranged by the participants and coverage cost in China will be provided by the employer.

Participants with a Master’s degree, Certification in TESL, or Ph.D. candidates who agree to and fulfill a one-year teaching contract may have their round trip international airfare paid by the host institution.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES 

Participants will teach full-time or part-time, and will be provided all normal vacation period with pay. They will be provided with curriculum and textbooks, in advance, if possible. They will be in charge of their classroom deciding on the methods of evaluation, teaching style, and assignments.

SALARY and HOUSING

Participants’ stipend should be discussed according to their personal circumstances and part-time teachers will be paid ranging between 4000—6000 RMB ($1000---$1500) per month and free housing. Full time teachers should have their stipend discussed during interview.

Housing facilities will include heating, private bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen with stove and refrigerator, and air-conditioning. Participants will have convenient access to a telephone to make and receive international calls at their own expenses. The stipend will depend upon the participants level of education and assessment of their interest and ability to succeed as an English instructor in China.

PLACEMENT

Placements will be determined by Fuda Enterprise (Australia) and the Central China Normal University (CCNU) in consideration of the students’ needs. Fuda Enterprise (Australia) in coordination with CCNU will obtain all necessary residence and work permits. Participants will be eligible for all in-country employee benefits such as general medical care.
